Bourbon Prime Steak and Eggs

Jump to Recipe

For all you Ron Swansons, Bourbon Prime Steak and Eggs are perfect! With my new Bourbon Prime blend, you can create a tasty meal anytime! I diced some potatoes and seasoned three teres majors. Utilizing a single cast iron skillet over the fire, I cooked everything together. This represents my ideal day.

Bourbon Prime Steak and Eggs

I understand that I mentioned Bourbon Prime is all you require for this steak and eggs dish (and that’s true)… BUT if you wish to elevate your Over the Fire Cooking skills, feel free to use the Lemon Chili Rye blend as well. That’s exactly what I did because I find these rubs too enjoyable to resist. For this recipe, I applied the Lemon Chili Rye blend to the roasted potatoes. Should you choose not to use that rub, you can simply go heavier on the Bourbon Prime blend. Alternatively, salt, pepper, and garlic powder would also work wonderfully.
Start by dicing your potatoes. Aim to cut them into pieces of similar size so they cook uniformly. I prefer my cubes smaller since they cook more quickly. However, if you want larger pieces, feel free to do so. I took all my diced potatoes, placed them in a large bowl, and coated them in oil followed by seasoning. Mix until every potato is well covered.

Bourbon Prime Teres Major

Ten points to anyone who can identify what the teres major is and where it comes from on the cow. Please submit your answers or educated guesses now.
If you guessed it comes from the chuck section, you would be right! This cut is about the same size as a pork tenderloin and is located just below the front leg of the cow. It is a tender cut of meat, slightly less tender than the tenderloin but close. I oiled each steak and applied my Bourbon Prime blend generously.
Bourbon Prime is a flavorful, smoky, and spicy bourboninfused mixture. We maximized the deliciousness of this recipe using inventive flavor profiles like mushrooms, butter, Worcestershire sauce, and even a hint of seaweed! It tastes fantastic on any red meat you’re cooking on the grill.

Bourbon Prime Steak and Eggs

Gather your skillet, seasoned steaks, and diced potatoes, and let’s go to the fire. I began by adding oil to my skillet, then placing each steak inside. Cook them according to your preferred doneness; mine is always 120F for that perfect mediumrare. After cooking, remove them from the skillet to allow them to rest.
While the potatoes are cooking, we will prepare the steaks. Put the diced potatoes in the skillet and sauté them until they are soft enough to be pierced with a fork. Remember to stir them occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom of the skillet. Once they cook through, push them to one side of the skillet. Next, take three eggs, crack them, and place them onto the potatoes. While the eggs are being cooked, we can start slicing the steaks.

Serving Up Steak and Eggs

Ensure that you cut the steaks in the opposite direction of the grain. I cut mine into small bitesized pieces. Then, after the eggs have finished cooking, I returned the steak pieces to the skillet. Place the sliced steaks on the open space in the skillet. Finally, I added two dollops of herb butter on top of the steaks and decorated the dish with parsley. You can serve everything straight from the skillet. It’s best to enjoy this meal with friends or family! Cheers!

Ingredients

Steak:

▢3 Teres Majors or NY Strip
▢1. 5 tbsp of Bourbon Prime
▢2 tsp of Canola Oil
▢Herb Butter for garnish
▢Chopped Parsley for garnish

Potatoes & Eggs:

▢1. 5 cups of Diced Potatoes
▢1. 5 tbsp of Lemon Chili Rye Seasoning
▢34 Fresh Eggs
▢2 tsp of Canola Oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl safe for food, combine the diced potatoes, canola oil, and Lemon Chili Rye seasoning. Mix well and set it aside. Then, coat your steaks with canola oil and season them with Bourbon Prime.
  2. Preheat a stove to a high temperature (around 400F). In the meantime, heat a cast iron skillet with some canola oil for 12 minutes before adding the steaks.
  3. Add the steaks to the skillet and cook each side for about 23 minutes until they reach an internal temperature of 120F. After the steaks are cooked, remove them and set aside to rest. Add the potatoes to the same skillet and sauté for approximately 810 minutes until they are tender. Once cooked, shift them to one side of the skillet and create 34 small indentations in the potatoes. Crack the eggs into these spaces and cover the skillet with a lid or a burning log. Cook the eggs until they are done to your liking, then remove the skillet from the heat.
  4. Slice the steaks against the grain and place them in the empty side of the skillet. Top with butter and finish by sprinkling chopped parsley on top. Serve and enjoy!
