White Pizza

White Pizza

Jump to Recipe
I want to clarify that I enjoy a classic American pizza topped with pepperoni, sausage, extra cheese, and lots of tomato sauce.
However, sometimes I feel like having something different. This white pizza recipe closely resembles various Italian pizzas that do not feature pepperoni at all—yes, you read that right, ZERO pepperoni. I was just as surprised as you are.
If you go to Italy looking for a pepperoni pizza, you will end up with a pizza that has peppers instead. Interestingly, the absence of pepperoni wasn’t a downside; it encouraged us to try diverse pizza types. Those experiences served as my inspiration to come up with this recipe once we returned home.
You certainly have the option to create your own pizza dough from scratch, which allows you to incorporate delightful items like basil, oregano, and cheese.
For this particular recipe, I opted for a frozen dough I found in my neighborhood grocery store’s freezer section, and it worked quite well. It came as a ball, so I needed to thaw it and roll it out, but that was a simple task.

Ingredients:

  • ▢1 frozen pizza dough, thawed and rolled out to 15 inches
  • ▢2 cups freshly grated Mozzarella cheese
  • ▢1 cup fresh baby spinach leaves
  • ▢12 slices of thinly sliced salami, halved
  • ▢1 12 oz jar of marinated artichoke hearts
  • ▢10 sun-dried tomatoes in oil
  • ▢1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • ▢1/2 red onion, sliced
  • ▢Extra virgin olive oil for brushing
  • ▢1 clove of garlic

Instructions

  1. ▢ Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  2. ▢ In the meantime, roll out your pizza dough and place it on a pizza pan.
  3. ▢ Once the oven is ready, position the pizza dough on the middle rack and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. ▢ Take the pizza dough out, rub it with the garlic clove, and brush extra virgin olive oil over it. Make sure to cover the whole pizza; this will give the edges a nice golden color. Next, layer on half of the cheese, followed by spinach, salami, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and red onions, finishing off with the remaining cheese.
  5. ▢ Bake until the cheese is melting and the crust turns golden, roughly 15 minutes.
