This fast air fryer broccoli is a simple side for any dinner during the week. Flavored with sesame oil for an Asian-inspired touch!
If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly seeking fresh ideas to utilize your air fryer and encourage your family to enjoy more vegetables.
Both challenges are addressed with this simple Air Fryer Broccoli Recipe.
With only a few ingredients and a mere 10 minutes in the air fryer, you will have a quick side dish that everyone in your family will enjoy. Believe me, my kids, who usually are not broccoli fans, devour this every single time!
What ingredients do you need for air fryer broccoli?

BROCCOLI:
3 fresh broccoli heads, cut into florets. I prefer to leave the stems a bit longer, but that’s just my choice.
SESAME OIL:
This ingredient provides an Asian flair to the broccoli. You don’t need much, just enough to achieve a little browning and crispiness while air frying. If you’d rather skip this, you can use olive oil; the method remains the same!
CANOLA OIL
GRANULATED GARLIC:
If you need a substitute, garlic powder works well. Should you use garlic salt instead, make sure to leave out the extra salt in the recipe.
SALT
SESAME SEEDS:
These are added post-cooking for extra crunch.
UMAMI POWDER:
While this is completely optional, I enjoy using it. Made from shiitake mushrooms, it enhances the savory flavor of the broccoli tremendously. I use this specific brand. A tiny amount is effective, so you won’t need to purchase it very often. Trader Joe’s also offers a version with a hint more onion flavor.
How do you prepare broccoli in the air fryer?

It truly couldn’t be simpler!
STEP 1:
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients except the sesame seeds. Toss the broccoli to ensure it’s evenly coated.
STEP 2:
Put the broccoli into the air fryer basket and roast it at 375 for 10 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through. If you prefer it a bit crunchier, cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
TIP:
Unlike other air fryer recipes, there’s no need to arrange the broccoli in a single layer. You can cook it all together, making this recipe even simpler!
STEP 3:
Take it out of the air fryer, sprinkle on the sesame seeds, and serve.
SEE! How simple is that?
This air fryer broccoli definitely has a slight Asian influence thanks to the sesame oil, seeds, and umami, but it’s just a twist. You can easily adapt this recipe with any flavors you like: cajun, ranch, or just basic salt and pepper. Whatever you prefer, the cooking method remains unchanged!
